Do you have one of the deadliest jobs in America?

Let’s check the new 2015 list published by Bloomberg.com.

Citing recently released Department of Labor statistics, here are the top 10 deadliest jobs in America with fatalities per 100,000 workers. (American Military jobs are not on this list, as these are civilian positions only)

1. Fishers, 131.5 fatalities per 100,000 workers
2. Loggers, 97.05
3. Aircraft Pilots, 69.53
4. Extraction workers (miners, oil drillers, etc.), 56.79
5. Iron & Steelworkers, 42.61
6. Roofers, 36.26
7. Garbage Collectors, 33.16

“These workers die on the job about four times more often than firefighters and security guards. Transportation incidents are the biggest cause, accounting for 69% of fatalities.”

8. Farmers & Ranchers, 24.04
9. Truck Drivers, 24.03
10. Power-line Installers, 22.85

Which occupation has the highest number of deaths due to violence?
1. Taxi drivers and Chauffeurs  (You say you wanted to be an UBER driver?)

“Taxi drivers are more likely to die from homicide than from a transportation accident.”

2. Police Officers
3. Security Guards
4. Managers of retail Sales Workers (Apparently it isn’t better to be the boss)
5. Property and Real Estate managers
