(Mattel)
When I was a kid, there was exactly one Barbie doll. Or at least that’s what I seem to remember; I was (and still am) more of a Hot Wheels kid. That’s changing — Mattel announced that they are introducing 33 new Barbie dolls this year. Thirty-three!
If you’re wondering how they got there: there are now seven skin tones, 22 eye colors and what’s apparently controversial, four different body styles: OG, petite, tall and curvy. You’ll be able to order them online starting on Thursday.
Of course, the Internet is all abuzz, especially about Curvy Barbie — most are supportive, but there’s a lot of “who wants a fat Barbie,” which I’m pretty sure says more about the commenter than the doll. Either way, if there were a plastic Davis with no junk out there, I’m pretty sure he’d find Curvy Barbie to be fetching.
What do you think?
