“The Night Before” movie stars Anthony Mackie and Joseph Gordon-Levitt battled it out in the 2015 Holiday Special of Spike TV’s Lip Sync Battle! Anthony took on MC Hammer’s classic “2 Legit 2 Quit” , and it was great. BUT……. Joseph does such an amazingly spot-on rendition of Janet Jackson’s “Rhythm Nation” that will make you scream!!!!!! The costumes, the DANCING, the hair piece…OH MY GAWD!
I honestly thought host LL Cool J was going to hyperventilate and die live on stage.
The show is based on an idea introduced to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon by Stephen Merchant, in which celebrities battle each other with lip sync performances. It was used (and is still used) as a recurring segment on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon before being developed as a separate show.
The premiere episode was the highest-rated premiere in Spike’s history. Lip Sync Battle has been a hit show for the network; the series has been renewed for a second season, which will premiere on Thursday, January 7, 2016. It has been announced that the show will be presenting an hour-long holiday special, which premiered on Thursday, November 19, 2015.
The show s produced by John Krasinski (THE OFFICE) and Stephen Merchant and hosted by rapper and actor LL Cool J. with Model Chrissy Teigen serving as color commentator.
