Olympics Opening Ceremony Will Be Shown In IMAX Theaters

The opening ceremony won’t be held in a stadium like most Olympics – instead, athletes will travel in boats down the River Seine in a four-mile-long procession.  We will be watching a four-mile-long flotilla of nearly 100 boats. “10,500 athletes will cross the centre of Paris – the main home of the Games, where they will showcase their sporting prowess over the following 16 days. Throughout the Opening Ceremony, athletes will appear on stage alongside performers in line with Paris 2024’s goal of hosting a Games that is created for and by the athletes.”

NBC will be bringing the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics to the big screen – the REALLY big screen. The network announced Friday March 22nd, they will be showing the ceremony in more than 150 IMAX theaters across the U.S. on July 26th.

“We look forward to providing our Opening Ceremony coverage to audiences at IMAX locations across the country, sharing in this historic moment as the world regathers to witness the spectacular beginning of 16 days of athletic greatness against the backdrop of one of the most beautiful cities in the world,” Gary Zenkel, president of NBC Olympics, said in a statement.

Ticket prices for the IMAX screenings have not been made available yet.

The Opening Ceremony will also broadcast on NBC and Peacock. Kelly Clarkson, Peyton Manning and Mike Tirico have previously been announced as hosts for the Summer Olympics opening ceremony broadcast.
