Amazon Prime Video has been ad-free for as long as I can remember until now.
Today, the streaming service rolled out the implementation of ads.
News of the planned change came out in September, and in December, an email was sent to alert customers that the change was coming soon. According to a WSJ report, Amazon alleges it has a lower ad load than other streaming services at two and a half to three minutes of ads per hour.
Some ads will be shown before a program, and others in the middle of the program you’re watching. Prime Video has revealed an option to remove the ads, but you must pay an extra $2.99 monthly.
