More Stores Recall Tyson Chicken Products
Tyson Foods is recalling some of its chicken products.
Walmart, Wegmans and Publix all posted recall notices on their websites, after Tyson voluntarily recalled over eight million pounds of frozen, cooked chicken products for possible listeria contamination. When eaten, Listeria causes a foodborne illness called listeriosis. Listeriosis is one of the most serious types of food poisoning.
The recall includes Tyson fully cooked and frozen products and also private label products for restaurants, including Little Caesars. The frozen, fully cooked chicken products were produced between December 26, 2020 and April 13, 2021. The recall includes products and private label products for restaurants, including Jet’s Pizza, Casey’s General Store, Marco’s Pizza and Little Caesars.
Listeriosis can cause fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions sometimes preceded by diarrhea or other gastrointestinal symptoms. An invasive infection spreads beyond the gastrointestinal tract. In pregnant women, the infection can cause miscarriages, stillbirths, premature delivery or life-threatening infection of the newborn.
A full list of retailers that sold the affected products is posted on the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service recall website.
