Disney Has Found Its Snow White
Rachel Zegler, star of the upcoming West Side Story film from Steven Spielberg, will play the role of Snow White in the live-action version of the classic film.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was the first feature film released by Disney back in 1938.
Production on the live-action version is expected to start next year. Marc Webb will direct and will also be producing.
Zegler was discovered then selected to play Maria In WSS after an open casting call. It didn’t hurt that she had already achieved fame after videos of her high school performances, including a YouTube clip of her singing “Shallow” from “A Star is Born,” went viral. Here is a sneak peak of Rachel as Maria in her upcoming musical movie debut.
20th Century Studios, The Walt Disney Company will release “West Side Story” in U.S. theaters on December 10, 2021.
Zegler has also landed a role in the sequel to “Shazam!,” called “Fury of the Gods,” which is just beginning production.
