This week, the FDA approved a new coronavirus antibody treatment from Eli Lilly.  That’s great news – but the internet can’t get past the drug’s bizarre name: Bamlanivimab.

People can’t stop riffing on the name on Twitter.  One user said “It’s like they wrote “the drug is called” and suddenly something terrible happened.”  Another wrote “The hottest club in New York is BAMLANIVIMAB.  It has everything”.

Others couldn’t resist dropping it into song lyrics, like “Oh, Black Betty, Bamlanivimab” – or ““I put my thang down flip it and reverse it, it’s your bamlanivimab”.
