Passengers Can Buy 8 Empty Seats For Social Distancing

While some airlines are contemplating keeping middle seats empty for the sake of social distancing, one carrier is giving passengers a paid option to make the area around them clear.

China’s Air Changan is giving flyers the option to buy the 8 seats around them so they can have extra space. Passengers have to pay $28 per seat for three seats in front of them, three seats behind them, and the other seats in your row. The total cost is $226. There are no extra baggage or frequent flyer perks with the extra seats.

Flyers can only make the purchase on the day of departure depending on if the seats are available.
