The U.S. reached a couple of grim milestones in the coronavirus outbreak, with the total number of confirmed cases topping 5,000 and the death toll reaching triple digits.

The CDC reports at least 5,359 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the U.S. as of Tuesday – more than five times the number from just one week ago.  That total includes cases in 49 states, the District of Columbia, U.S. territories, and repatritated citizens.  West Virginia remains the only state without at least one confirmed case.

Meanwhile, CNN reports the death toll in the U.S. reached 100 on Tuesday.
