Chance the Rapper Donates $1 Million to Chicago Public Schools

Grammy Award winner, Chance The Rapper announced yesterday, March 6, that he will be donating $1 Million to Chicago Public Schools.

During a press conference (at Westcott Elementary School), Chance said the big contribution is to “support art and enrichment programming.”

Chance called this movement a “Call to action.”

Chance said, “As a private citizen, as a parent and as a product of Chicago Public Schools, I’m asking that you guys join and fight with me … for the … children of Chicago.”

The announcement came days after the rapper met with Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner to discuss what he believes is a lack of state funding directed towards the Chicago Public Schools systems.
