  • The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced a short list of 14 nominees for its Hall of Fame induction, including two hitmakers, Mariah Carey and Cyndi Lauper; one legendary hip-hop act, Outkast; and a Grammy Award-winning Mexican rock group, Maná, who is mostly unknown to American English-speaking music fans.
  • Other nominees include Bad Company, The Black Crowes, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Billy Idol, Joy Division/New Order, Phish, Soundgarden, and The White Stripes.
  • The Rock Hall also scheduled a fall 2025 induction event in Los Angeles. The museum stated the date and tickets will be revealed in late April.
  • Artists can be inducted 25 years after their initial commercial release. Voters should examine a nominee’s “impact on music culture, influence on other musicians that have followed, as well as the scope and longevity of their career and body of work.”
