Want to skip the long form mail in renewal process for your passport?
A new online system will make it far easier – and faster – to renew your passport.
The State Department says its online passport renewal system is fully operational.
It allows users to skip cumbersome paper applications sent by mail, a process that can take two months or more to complete.

This service is still the same timeline of approximately 8 weeks, but at least it is easier. You will upload a digital passport photo, and will pay for this online with a debit or credit card. Be aware: They will cancel the passport you are renewing after you submit your application. You cannot use it for international travel during that time, so plan ahead!
