From FLOORCOVERING NEWS:
After a two-year wait and rescheduled opening date, Wayfair is unveiling its first expansive store under the flagship brand in Chicagoland next spring. The 150,000-square-foot megastore at Edens Plaza in Wilmette marks the home furnishings giant’s move beyond an online-only sales strategy and into brick-and-mortar in a more significant way.
The choice of location builds upon the positive response from Wayfair’s first brick-and-mortar store opening under the specialty home goods brand, Joss & Main, in Oak Brook, Ill., last summer. “We are excited to be opening our first large-format Wayfair store in the Chicago area,” a Wayfair spokesperson told FCNews. “We have continued to see our customers in the area excited to engage with our brand and experience all we have to offer.”
The new megastore store promises 19 departments, including flooring. From furniture and décor to outdoor and home improvement (and even dining), the online giant is gearing up to provide massive immersive and interactive experiences.
Inspired by IKEA’s setup, the in-person store, which will open on May 23 and be 150,000 square feet, will have a restaurant on site called “The Porch.”
I am going to need a part time job to handle the credit card receipts from this future trip!
