Disney+ is the latest streaming platform to crack down on password sharing. Disney CEO Bob Iger recently shared in the company’s latest earnings call that the Mouse was “actively exploring ways to address account sharing.”
While discussing specific amounts of people sharing passwords, Iger said, “I’m not going to give you a specific number, except to say that it’s significant. What we don’t know, of course, is as we get to work on this, how much of the password sharing as we basically eliminate it will convert to growth in subs. Obviously, we believe there will be some.”
This news follows Disney+’s announcement that it will raise prices this year, including for its bundle packages with ESPN and Hulu.
