See Olivia Rodrigo help her favorite piano man bring down the house at Madison Square Garden

Billy Joel fans were surprised when Olivia Rodrigo made an appearance at his Madison Square Garden show on Thursday (August 24). Rodrigo performed not only performed her hit, “Deja Vu,” with Billy Joel and his band backing her up, but she duet-ed with Mr. Joel on his big hit “Uptown Girl.”

There’s a relationship between the two songs, as the second verse of Deja Vu features the lines “I’ll bet that she knows Billy Joel, ‘cos you played her Uptown Girl”.

Billy Joel has been gaining younger fans through TikTok, with his song “Zanzibar” used as part of a popular dance challenge, so the audience at Madison Square garden was very aware who Olivia was when introduced.
