Normal’s own Leah Marlene Covered BLONDIE to try to make the Top 20
On Monday, April 11th, we got to see the last pre-taped performance of Leah Marlene on American Idol. Many months have passed since Leah first got a golden ticket and started on a journey that has included tons of producers and three celebrity judges deciding her fate.
Now, her destiny in finally in the hands of fans and voters from all over the continent. Yes, the Canadians have also been recruited to help through the celebrity of Leah’s Dad Derry, who happens to be the lead guitarist of the well known Canadian band Honeymoon Suite. Yes, he is the one who also taught her how to be a guitar goddess herself!
Back to A.I., where the competition is getting tougher with each elimination. Ryan Seacrest and judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan were all installed around an outdoor stage at the Disney Aulani Resort. The outdoor sound system was OK, but not the best for the TV audience at home honestly. 12 amazing performances were shown on Sunday, with a tease for Leah to appear on Monday.
And boy did she show up!!!
After covering “Call Me” by Blondie, the three judges all stood up for the ovation Leah deserved!
Lionel Ritchie: “I can’t sit down. The most important thing you have to understand is you’re in a lane all by yourself. As far as this competition is concerned, there’s only one of you. It’s endless where you can go.”
You voted for Leah like crazy right? Now we wait until Sunday April 17th, 2022 for the results of who made it into the Top 20, and then those performers will sing again on Sunday and Monday nights.
One performer who won’t be going through is platinum ticket holder Kenedi Anderson, a 17 yr old minor Tik Tok celeb from Virginia who were are told decided not to continue with the competition. She posted this to her INSTAGRAM page right after the show aired…
“For personal reasons, I’m unable to continue on American Idol. This has been one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make, but I know it’s necessary. I’m so grateful to American Idol, the judges, the producers, the amazing contestants, and all the fans who have supported me. Thank you for giving me such an amazing opportunity to share my voice, chase my dreams, feel so much joy and happiness doing what I love, and making lifelong friends along the way.”
