Nearly 70% of 2016 turnout has already voted

About 94 million Americans have already voted – that’s about 70% of 2016’s total turnout. Early voting has also nearly doubled 2016’s 50 million.

The latest numbers are as of 8 a.m. Eastern, as compiled by the NBC News Decision and Democratic political data firm Target Smart.

Specifically – 93,800,000 voters have already cast early ballots and, notable increases have been seen across all demographics.

Democrats lead Republicans in casting early ballots in several key states, including Arizona, Florida, Iowa, Minnesota, Nevada, North Carolina and Pennsylvania. GOP voters have a slight lead in Georgia, Michigan, Ohio, Texas and Wisconsin.
