‘Cobra Kai’ Has Jumped To No. 1 On Netflix

Cobra Kai is the updated version of the 80’s classic Karate Kid movies, and it is really good!

This time we get the other side of the story, being told in one-hour increments that feature most of the original cast.

The show started out on YouTubeRed and received critical acclaim, Emmy nominations but not a large audience because not enough people were paying to see the show on their subscription platform. Two seasons of the show were shot but when YouTube rebranded as YouTubePremimum after they decided to cancel all of their original content.

Enter Netflix who picked up both seasons of the show and featured it on the streaming service over the weekend and it quickly shot to number one.

NETFLIX has a history of turning shows into hits, they have done the same with Fox’s “Lucifer” who has hit the top 10 list several times since it debuted in 2018. (Hello! Midseason Dad has arrived cliffhanger!)

Two seasons of Cobra Kai are now available for free on YouTube and by subscription on NETFLIX, but the forthcoming season three will be exclusive to NETFLIX and is expected in 2021.

No spoilers here, but let’s just say I’m REALLY hoping Elizabeth Shue pops over from Amazon where you see her in THE BOYS to COBRA KAI on NETFLIX. You saw what they did teasing that right?

OK, I’ll wait to say more until you are all caught up. Don’t forget to watch (or rewatch) the original KARATE KID movies before you dig in, because the origin story references are never ending. It’s OK for you to skip seeing Hilary Swank in THE NEXT KARATE KID, it is so far unrelated. But, IF Hilary and Elizabeth were to appear at some point, that would be TWO OSCAR WINNERS coming to visit. Wow.
