Taylor Swift Made History Last Night at the VMA’s

Taylor Swift won big during Sunday evening’s VMAs. The “Folklore” singer won for best direction for her directorial debut of “The Man.”

The video finds Swift as a brunette haired man who puts his antics on display as he urinates on a wall, guzzles liquor as he’s surrounded by several beautiful women, loses his temper on a tennis court.

Taylor is the first female solo artist to win for best direction, previously women have won the award alongside men. Melina Matsoukas won for Beyoncé’s “Formation” music video in 2016, however, Matsoukas isn’t a recording artist.  In her acceptance speech, Taylor says “The Man” was her first directorial debut. She thanked her team as well as the industry, who voted for the video, but it was her gratitude to the fans that stood out, “You are the only reason why the industry cares about anything that I do,” said Swift.
