STARBUCKS Has A Reopening Plan

I love all barista’s, but it has hurt driving past the closed STARBUCKS in my neighborhood. Good news is that we may be seeing a full reopening of all stores soon!

Yes, the true fans in BLONO know they can line up inside Hyvee for their mocha lattes, or drive through before noon at the location off RAAB road, but I want my Morrissey location open to see how my friends are doing, and order my favorite Venti Iced Skinny Mocha.

Employees of Starbucks just received a letter from their CEO on how the chain will transition to re-opening their stores across the country. The plan, which is described as a “monitor and adapt” concept will be based on the way China bounced back after the coronavirus pandemic.

In the letter, CEO Kevin Johnson says the customer experience at stores will shift to some being drive-thru only, others will focus on mobile orders, and other stores will reopen for to-go ordering.  60% of Starbucks’ 15,000 US stores have a drive-thru, while 80% of their orders are “to go” style.

FROM CNN:

“As was the case in China, [monitor and adapt] means we will gradually expand and shift the customer experiences we enable in our stores,” Johnson added. So some stores will continue as drive-thru only, others will let customers order on the mobile app for contactless pickup and delivery, and still others may reopen for “to-go” orders.
“As we experienced in China, this will be a journey and we are thoughtfully preparing for this next phase as we adapt in the U.S.,” Johnson said.

The company says they’ve tested the formula in 300 stores across the U.S. The plan is to re-open more stores by May 4.

The $3 additional “service pay” for employees will continue through the end of May.
