Italy has passed a grim milestone, surpassing China as the country with the most coronavirus-related deaths.

Italy’s death toll reached 3,405 on Thursday, more than 150 more than China with 3,249. Italy’s 41,000 total infections is only about half the Chinese toal of 81,000.

The news came on the same day that China reported no new cases, for the first time since the outbreak began in late December.
