7th graders arrested in “skull challenge”

In this installment of “Kids are stupid!” Two 7th graders have been arrested after Police say they sent a classmate to the hospital by performing a dangerous social media challenge.

The “skull breaker challenge,” or sometimes called the “jump challenge,” involves tricking someone into jumping in the air, then kicking their legs out from under them, causing them to crash, head first, to the ground.

Marc and Stacy Shenker told CBS News that their son was “laying down non-responsive” when they arrived, 20 minutes after receiving a call from the school, January 24. An ambulance had already been called. Their son suffered a closed head injury and a seizure caused by concussion.

The Cherry Hill, New Jersey 13-year-olds face charges of third-degree aggravated assault and third-degree endangering an injured victim.
