Is Our MakeUp Making Us Sick? Most Is Contaminated With Superbugs

A new study found that up to 90% of makeup products are contaminated with superbugs.

Where does it mostly live? In the sponges!

The bacteria found- E.coli and staphylococci bacteria.

So how can you avoid contamination? Wash your hands before applying makeup and store makeup and applicators outside of the bathroom.

And for goodness sake, clean your sponges! Here is how to do it right, from Shonagh Scott

Makeup can last between 3 months and 2 years.

  • Dry powder, pencil eyeliner and powder eye shadow can last up to two years.
  • Liquid eyeliner, makeup applicators and sponges can last three months.
  • Mascara can last between two and four months.

Looks like we need to start pitching the old out and replacing with new products MUCH more often.
