Coca-Cola Launches Its First Alcoholic Drink

Soft drink company are stepping outside of tradition by launching a version of ‘Chu-Hi’ alcopop in Japan aka alcoholic cola! Now, although it’s starting in Japan, have no fear because they always get to test the more advance things before us, which means we should be next in line.

Over in Japan it’s canned sparkling flavored drinks that include a local spirit called shochu, which ranges in alcohol content from 3-8%. Already the sales have surged over the past five years and it is particularly popular with female drinkers.

According to The Guardian, Sales of fizzy drinks are in decline worldwide as young people become more health conscious, cutting down on sugar consumption. Coca-Cola has branched out into water, coffee and tea to plug the sales shortfall. Now, we have alcohol, because not many are giving that up!
