After teaming up with CAST on Tour in an effort to bring attention to mental health issues, Demi Lovato kicked off her Tell Me You Love Me world tour on Monday night in San Diego and made it a special night for a few kids. In partnership with CAST, the 25-year-old singer brought a few of the students who endured and survived the mass school shooting in Parkland, Florida, out onstage.

The students were Julius Castillo, Mackenzie Marie Chapman, Samantha Megan Deitsch, Maia Hebron, Eden Hebron and Sarah Stricker. They came onstage and she praised their strength and courage, expressing admiration for how they’ve come together as a community amid the tragic events.

Fans were also able to text donations to the CAST foundation during the show, with the money being used for mental health resources for students.
