Beyoncé may be Adele’s inspiration, but she turned down the chance to perform with the Bey and Rihanna and show host James Corden in what was supposed to be an all-star tribute medley to the late, great George Michael.

Grammy producer Ken Ehrlich revealed that Adele’s sad and slow version of Michael’s 1996 hit “Fastlove” wasn’t the original plan, in fact, the original idea included Bey, Rih and James, each taking a verse from a song of different tempo and era like “Freedom” and “One More Try” for one mega mash-up.

However, as the show’s creative team carried on with Adele, it became evident that she had a particular idea for the tribute and wanted to execute it solo.
