So the weather this week, though. Like Miley Cyrus said, this is what dreams are made of. In case you’re confused about what to do when the weather is like this, here’s what I did this afternoon. Just a suggestion. No need to follow step-by-step, but I had a great afternoon on a little Blono adventure!
- Make friends in Uptown Circle. (Or stick to yourself.)
2. Learn about how the Uptown Circle collects rain water to use in watering the landscaping!
3. Find one of the many branches of the Constitution Trail!
4. Did you know the Constitution Trail used to be a railroad??
5. I think I’m in Heaven.
6. People keep running past me. IS SOMETHING CHASING ME???
7. Oooo look I found a secret trail!
8. I’m not sure I’m supposed to be here.
9. Apparently it just leads you to the trail… again…
10. Oh wow look at this decorated bench!
11. Donald J. Knapp must have been a great guy!
12. Camelback Bridge is one of the last remaining clues that the Constitution Trail used to be the railroad.
13. Here’s more about the historic bridge on Virginia Ave.
14. I decided to abandon the trail and explore one of my favorite neighborhoods in Blono!
15. This neighborhood was Normal’s first comprehensively planned subdivision.
“…The district was designed by architect Aaron T. Simmons and built by Bert Marley Kuhn between 1914 and 1930. Cedar Crest’s curving streets and craftsman style houses suggest a rural English village, characteristic of the Arts and Crafts period. Cedar Crest represents early twentieth century innovation in town planning and architecture. THE TOWN OF NORMAL HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION”
16. Yep, some pretty cute houses for sure!
17. Basically, whatever you do, try and get outside this week! It’s going to be beautiful!!!!
