Facebook is a valuable tool for connecting with people and services that relate to your life, but what about when businesses start demanding that you “like” or “friend” their business in order to use their services? Seems extreme but that’s exactly what one apartment complex in Utah seems to be doing…. they even wrote it into their tenants lease!!!

Yahoo claims City Park Apartments in Salt Lake City recently added an addendum to their lease, which requires residents to ‘friend’ the complex on Facebook. Those, who do not will be found in violation of their lease. The property wants permission to post pictures of tenants and visitors on its Facebook page.

Thoughts? I imagine that most people end up liking the pages of businesses they frequent anyways just to keep up with specials and what’s going on, but it seems a little gritty to HAVE to like them on facebook just to use their services. Either way looks like that’s the deal if you’re looking for an overbearing apartment in SLC.
