The recipient for the 2015-2016 “Mickey D” Award is Colleen Svob of Normal Community West High School.

The “Mickey D” Award is given to a high school senior from the surrounding Bloomington/Normal area that excels in leadership, citizenship, scholarship, and sportsmanship. The selection process determined that Colleen was the individual that best portrayed what the “Mickey D” Award stands for. The winner received a plaque and traveling plaque with their name on it, $100.00 in McDonald’s gift certificates, a $200.00 VISA gift card from Commerce Bank and other prizes from WBNQ /Radio Bloomington.

Ms. Svob is extremely involved in her school and community. Currently Svob is a member of Key Club, National Honors Society, Math League and volunteers with Special Olympics, Salvation Army Bell Ringing and her church nursery. Academic Advisor, Carrie Hoffman, states that Colleen is responsible, outgoing, empathetic and well-rounded. For example, she goes above and beyond for every job she is given including when Svob and the current co-President organized our yearly Homecoming assembly as sophomores for over 1600 students as well as this year’s end of the year assembly. The assemblies take a lot of planning, organizing, and time which end in a huge success.

On behalf of McDonald’s of Bloomington/Normal, McLean and Gibson City, WBNQ/Radio Bloomington, and Commerce Bank, we are proud to announce Colleen Svob, as the 2015- 2016 “Mickey D” Award Winner. Congratulations!
