After a lot of uncertainty whether or not Caterpillar would be keeping their world headquarters in Peoria, they have announced they’re not only going to stay there, but expand their facilities in a BIG way.

“Caterpillar will stay in Peoria. I repeat, we will stay in Peoria,” said Cat CEO Doug Oberhelman, who made the announcement at a news conference earlier today.

This is huge news for not only Peoria, but the entire state of Illinois. Businesses have been leaving Illinois recently due to the tough economic climate for large corporations like Caterpillar.

Governor Bruce Rauner showed his support and gratitude to Caterpillar by saying, “Let’s be clear, they could have put their new headquarters anywhere in the world, but Caterpillar said no, we’re an American company and we’re gonna stay in America.”
