Heartland Theatre Company opens MAURITIUS (by Theresa Rebeck) Thursday, February 16 on a Pay-What-You-Can Preview donation basis. The play continues through March 4 and is sponsored by Drake Zimmerman and Jan Elfline.
The play, directed by SANDRA ZIELINSKI, features: ANDREW HEAD, SARAH STONE INNERST, MICHAEL PULLIN, NANCY SULTAN and KEVIN WICKART.
ABOUT THE PLAY: “Betrayal and treason and poor behavior. A lot of poor behavior,” is how Theresa Rebeck has described her play MAURITIUS. At first glance, the play is about valuable stamps, unscrupulous collectors and two half-sisters with very different ideas about family, loyalty and what belongs to whom. But underneath…there’s plot and counterplot, scam and counter-scam, desperation and desire. All over two tiny scraps of paper printed wrong in 1847, now incredibly valuable because of that mistake. If only people were more valuable because of their mistakes…
