The 2016 Academy Award nominations were announced today, with The Revenant, Mad Max: Fury Road and Spotlight emerging as this year’s front runners. The Revenant, meanwhile, leads all movies with 12 nominations, with Mad Max coming in second with 10. The Martian also racked up seven nominations, including Best Actor for Matt Damon. As The New York Times points out, this is the second year in a row that every acting nomination has gone to a white actor or actress.
